Do Republicans WANT America to Go to War with Iran? This Action Certainly Suggests So…

US President Donald Trump and First Lady of the US Melania Trump arrive for a working dinner at The Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Belgium on Jul. 11, 2018.

While President Donald Trump is working overtime to bring peace to the middle east (again) in the form of a new nuclear deal with Iran… it turns out his own people are secretly sabotaging his efforts…

President Trump has said that a nuclear deal with Iran is close, but more than 200 Republicans in Congress have sent a letter to President Trump “urging” him to reconsider.

The letter, sent to him by every single Republican in the Senate aside from Rand Paul (R-KY) and 177 GOP House members, have pressed Trump to ONLY accept a nuclear deal with Iran that involves the complete dismantlement of Tehran’s nuclear enrichment program – which Iranian leaders have been rather vocal about never agreeing to.

The Iranian regime should know that the administration has Congressional backing to ensure their ability to enrich uranium is permanently eliminated,” the letter reads.

The GOP officials highlighted in their letter some comments made by Trump officials requesting that Iran eliminate uranium enrichment, though these requests seem to be put aside for now considering that negotiations have continued to progress.

You and your administration have therefore correctly drawn a red line against a deal that allows Iran to retain any enrichment capacity,” the letter says.

The issue with this is that while Trump is CLEARLY focused on getting a deal done, this letter from Congress directly undermines those efforts by sending a message to Tehran that any deal they make with Trump that does not include this demand would be without congressional support and could EASILY be reversed by a future president.

Media reports reveal that Iran has suggested the idea of a joint uranium enrichment program with Saudi Arabia and the UAE in recent negotiations.

And worse, there has been talks that if these negotiations fall through, the United States could go to WAR with Iran… so needless to say, there’s a lot riding on these negotiations.

At the same time, a vast majority of Americans support reaching a nuclear deal with Iran because unlike those muppets in Congress who are paid by war-profiteering lobbyists – the American people DO NOT want war.

According to the University of Maryland’s Critical Issues Poll, 69% of Americans favor reaching a nuclear deal with Iran.

These numbers include nearly two-thirds of Republicans and over three-quarters of Democrats who all agree they want a “negotiated agreement limiting Iran’s nuclear program to peaceful ends, with stringent monitoring.

On the same token, very few Americans support military aggression to take our Iran’s nuclear program.

Less than 25% of Republicans and just 5% of Democrats have expressed support for using the military to dismantle the Iranian nuclear program.

In other words, a majority of Americans are anti-war… but a majority of our representatives seem to be PRO-war. That’s not good.

And at the same time, US intelligence have openly stated that they have ZERO evidence to suggest that Tehran is actively building a nuclear weapon… so why is Congress so hell-bent on stopping a deal which could potentially prevent American lives from being lost?
