President Trump just signed a brand-new counterterrorism strategy, and for the first time in years, it actually targets terrorists. Not parents at school board meetings. Not grandmothers who wandered into the Capitol building. Real, actual, blow-things-up terrorists. Revolutionary concept, I know.
Remember when the Biden administration's top counter-terrorism priority was "domestic violent extremism" — which somehow always meant people who voted the wrong way? Those days are over.
Dr. Sebastian Gorka, Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism, laid out the scoreboard in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News. And the numbers are staggering.
"America is back in the business of counterterrorism," Gorka said. "Since the President authorized our first CT mission on the eighth day of the administration, we have killed more than 820 jihadis, and we have liberated 106 Americans who were previously hostages."
Eight hundred and twenty. And 106 Americans brought home alive. That's not a press release — that's a body count and a rescue operation that would make a Tom Clancy novel look understated.
The new strategy, formally titled for the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, identifies three priority threat categories. And every single one of them makes sense, which is how you know the adults are back in charge.
Priority number one: the drug cartels that President Trump designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations on his very first day back in office. That FTO designation unlocked DOJ and Treasury sanctions tools that are now being used to financially strangle these organizations. As Gorka put it, the goal is "incapacitating cartel operations until these groups are incapable of bringing their drugs, their members, and their trafficked victims into the United States."
Priority number two: the legacy global jihadist movement — al-Qaeda, AQAP, ISIS, and ISIS-K. The groups that actually want to murder Americans on American soil. The ones the Biden administration apparently forgot about while they were busy surveilling Catholic churches.
Priority number three — and this is where it gets really interesting: violent left-wing extremists, including anarchists and Antifa, are now formally classified as a counterterrorism threat category alongside jihadists and cartels.
Read that again. Antifa is now officially in the same threat bucket as ISIS.
The strategy document itself takes a direct shot at the previous administration: "The fact pattern under the Biden Administration was clear: individuals at the highest level of the U.S. Government used their significant powers to politically target individuals." That's not conservative media spin. That's the official White House counterterrorism strategy calling out the weaponization of government under Biden. In writing. With a presidential signature on it.
Gorka drove the contrast home: "We are doing threat-based counterterrorism, we are not using the government as a tool of politics like Obama and Biden did."
The shift couldn't be more dramatic. Under Biden, the national security apparatus was pointed inward — at Americans. The FBI was showing up at parents' doorsteps because they yelled at a school board member. Meanwhile, actual terrorists were regrouping and actual cartels were flooding the border with fentanyl.
Now? Over 820 jihadis eliminated. Over 106 hostages freed. Cartels designated as what they actually are — terrorist organizations. And the people who spent four years burning down federal buildings are finally being treated as the threat they represent.
As Townhall reported, this strategy represents a complete reversal from the Biden-era obsession with right-wing domestic threats. The focus is back where it belongs — on the people who actually want to kill us.
That's not politics. That's national security done right.
