Democrat policies have made major cities across America more dangerous than ever and rather than actually try to undo the damage that they’ve caused, leftist leaders are telling residents of these cities: “get used to it!”

New York City is a shining example of left-wing policies gone wrong resulting in a massive uptick in crime.

Thanks to their lefty-soft-on-crime nonsense, New York City is currently dealing with a crime crisis. Felony assaults have hit a 20-year high, an overwhelming surge of migrant crime, and decades-high subway violence are just a few of the city’s problems worsening the crisis.

You would THINK that the city’s leaders would be actively searching for solution to the very problems they created but that would make way too much sense.

Instead, they’ve concocted some poorly thought out “solution” which sends the message to voters that they have no idea what they are doing and are clueless on how to lower crime in the city.

City officials unveiled a $1.6 million initiative to install north of up to 500 panic buttons in small stores around the city known as bodegas.

Mayor Eric Adams announced the plan while emphasizing the need for increased safety measures.

“Instead of just having the cats keeping away the rats, we’re going to have a direct connection with the police to keep away those dangerous cats that try to rob our stores,” Adams said.

“The bodegas are important, and what this is going to do is add an extra layer of safety. Number one, for those who actually have the panic buttons and the direct communication to the police. But second, the element of surprise—500 of these devices throughout the entire city.”

In 2024, a Bodega owner was robbed at gunpoint by an illegal alien gang member. There were more than 3,200 such arrests made on migrants ALONE.

These buttons will connect directly to the NYPD‘s central command center, allowing them to bypass 911 dispatchers and while the left-wing leaders CLAIM that this will somehow stop crime… but there are so many problems with it.

What happens when these bodegas start hitting their panic button and the city’s defunded police department doesn’t have enough officers to respond?

This implementation expands on a pilot program which had just 50 panic buttons and faced heavy criticism over what they referred to “inconsistent police response times.”

Just imagine how much more inconsistent these responses will be when there are 10 times as many. And how about when the criminals manage to map out which of the city’s bodegas have panic buttons and which don’t. This plan practically paints a target on the backs of those not chosen to receive a button.

But the problem is not just the plan itself, rather, it’s with the way that the Democrats CONTINUE to come up with bizarre band aid solutions for the problems they unleash on the American people.

They invite millions of foreign criminals into our country while simultaneously protecting the criminals who are already here, refusing to hold anybody accountable for having committed crimes because in the eyes of the left, doing so is “racist” or “offensive” in some way.

Democrats literally do everything in their power to encourage criminal activity and then they have the nerve to insult the American people by pretending like something as useless as “panic buttons” will solve this.

This is yet ANOTHER reason why the Democratic party can’t be trusted!
