A woke new sheriff in Michigan’s Washtenaw County has an…interesting… plan to reimagine the way that her officers fight violent crime – and it’s not going to end well.

Sheriff Alyshia Dyer, is a former deputy who became a social worker before being elected as sheriff.

Dyer is a Democrat who intends to bring about major changes to how law enforcement enforce laws and policies… in order to make sure their top concern is “protecting the environment.”

Unfortunately, this is not a joke or a parody from this elected leader.

According to Dyer, her main goal is to protect the community “from the negative environmental and human health impacts of pollution and climate change.”

Her campaign website said that she will prioritize “diversity” and “inclusivity” in the hiring process. She lamented that “the Sheriff’s Office is predominantly male, white, and not representative of our LGBTQ+ population” and vowed to ensure “that hiring practices are inclusive.”

Most of the country has realized by now that DEI hires and the woke policies that Democrats institute are garbage and actually spike crime rates and violence, but Washtenaw County and its population of roughly 365,000 seem to be a bit behind the ball there.

Dyer did an interview with the Daily Wire where she admitted that her leadership will bring “drastic” changes to the department’s outlook SPECIFICALLY on environmental issues.

She said that she wants to implement an “Environmental Crimes Unit” in her first term, which would focus on looking into “air pollution, water contamination, and hazardous waste management.”

Of course, we know that leftists don’t typically love to increase police budgets so how would this new unity be possible?

Dyer said that she plans to cut back on the number of patrol vehicles on the road to reduce emissions while simultaneously taking officers away from patrolling for REAL CRIMES and assigning them to her woke new environmental unit.

When asked about her plans to bring down violent crime, Dyer said that fighting for environmental justice was, in her eyes, the most efficient way to do this because it’s “all connected.”

“Looking at the environment, looking at corporate polluters, looking at the quality of life for residents, it has a really big impact on wellbeing.”

This leftist Sheriff is actually arguing that if she uses her department to “fight climate change” it will somehow magically cut down on the number of rapes and murders that take place in her county.

If this doesn’t prove to you how completely delusional some of these liberals are then nothing will.

To make matters worse, Dyer will be working with far-left prosecutor Eli Savit, who was re-elected even after taking a soft-on-crime approach that led to a major uptick in crimes committed.

This county now has a woke sheriff and a woke prosecutor working hand in hand to fight climate change while letting murderers walk free… this is not going to end well…

On the bright side, a few years from now we’ll be able to use this Michigan county as a cautionary tale for just how bad things can go when we let these whack job liberals get into power!
