House GOP Missing the Point Entirely When it Comes to the FBI

Talk about missing the point completely. In the current appropriations fight over how much bonus money Congress should give to the FBI for the stellar job it’s been doing for the past 80 years, Republicans are arguing for some basic cosmetic changes. That’ll show ‘em.

Among the stipulations for the next round of spending provisions for the FBI, there is a rider declaring that the bureau should move its headquarters to an existing new facility in Alabama, rather than building a new headquarters in Virginia or Maryland. How about moving FBI headquarters to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean instead, guys?

The amount of corruption that we witnessed from the FBI during the Russia collusion hoax has not changed a bit. It’s only gotten worse, because there has been no accountability for any of the crimes that were committed against Donald Trump.

While the FBI is still currently engaged in hoax investigations against the real president, it has moved beyond that and is now actively persecuting Joe Biden’s political enemies.

House Republicans want to move FBI headquarters to the US government’s Redstone Arsenal base in Huntsville, AL to somehow stop all of this overreach. For those who don’t know, that’s a US Army facility. Because moving a bureau that’s already acting as the nation’s secret police to a top-secret military base is a GREAT idea! If you think that congressional oversight of the FBI is bad now…

The FBI was never even created by an Act of Congress in the first place. Attorney General Charles Bonaparte needed a force of officers to vet immigrants coming into the country, and Congress had refused to give him funding for any. In 1908, Bonaparte moved Department of Justice funds around to create an investigative force to basically do background checks on immigrants, so the government could arrest and deport undesirables coming in from Italy, Ireland and Germany.

When the Immigration Act of 1924 was passed by Congress, it created the Border Patrol. With the passage of that act into law, the Department of Justice’s immigration investigators became redundant and pointless. There was no longer any reason for the FBI to exist as it was constituted. That was 99 years ago.

But because Congress never really cuts any government spending, here they are! The FBI is just as corrupt as ever.

Vivek Ramaswamy, the unknown but seemingly MAGA candidate who is polling at 10% in the 2024 GOP presidential primary—higher than Pence, Haley, and Christie combined—tweeted a series of questions the House GOP Members should ask FBI Director Christopher Wray this week. Wray is set to testify before the Appropriations Committee. Ramaswamy’s list is good but incomplete, and you can read it HERE if you wish.

My list of questions for Wray would be slightly different. I’d recommend these questions for the FBI Director:

In the past seven years, dating back to 2015, how many FBI and DOJ employees have been arrested for leaking information about President Trump to the media? How many should have been arrested?

Who alerted CNN of the exact time and place where the Roger Stone raid would happen? On what date was that person fired? If they were not fired, why not?

How many FBI agents were fired for dishonestly labeling traditionalist Catholics as “domestic terrorists?”

How many FBI agents were fired for labeling parents at school board meetings “domestic extremists?”

LaVoy Finicum was unarmed and surrendering to police in 2016 when an FBI agent assassinated him by shooting him in the back. Has the FBI employee who carried out that political assassination been arrested or fired?

How many FBI agents have been fired for rifling through Melania Trump’s wardrobe during the illegal and unconstitutional Mar a Lago raid? How many should have been fired?

Do you need a box to clean out your desk, Mr. Wray, or do you need Congress to provide you with one?

Cosmetic changes to the FBI or shuffling personnel around is not going to change the culture of rot, corruption and abuse of power at the FBI. Moving FBI headquarters to Alabama is not going to change the FBI. The only way that America will survive the coming years as an intact nation is if the FBI is completely dismantled and senior management members are jailed for crimes against President Trump and his supporters.
