After Impeachment Fails, Democrats Throw Kitchen Sink at Donald Trump

Out of the roughly 750 Democrats who ran for president in 2020, John Delaney was the very first one to declare his candidacy. That was a full 1,100 days before the election. Given that presidential elections keep starting earlier and earlier every cycle, that means we could see an official announcement on President Trump’s reelection plans as soon as September. I think I can wait that long. The Swamp cannot afford to wait that long. They’re on the verge of panic now that a second impeachment failed to take down America’s champion.

The second impeachment was always about the Disqualification Clause in the 14th Amendment. If a person engages in “insurrection” against the US government, a simple majority of both houses of congress can bar that person from holding future office. Instead of the 67 Senators required to convict a president in an impeachment trial, disqualification only requires 51 votes.

Disqualification is moot, however, if you don’t actually have an insurrection conviction. So, once again, The Swamp shot itself in the foot.

This explains why Swamp Creature Mitch McConnell excoriated Trump in a bizarre Senate floor speech, in which he all but begged federal law enforcement to charge Trump with something – anything! – that might slow him down. Trump of course fired back with both barrels, referring to McConnell as a “dour, sullen and unsmiling political hack.” (Ha!)

McConnell has good reason to be panicked about his betrayal of President Trump and the Republican base. Have you seen the latest YouGov favorability ratings?

I know, the polls are all fake and you can generally add 20 points to Trump’s score in any poll to figure out a more accurate set of numbers, but check this out: Among GOP voters, Donald Trump’s favorability after the second impeachment trial stands at 75%. Mitch McConnell’s net favorability rating among GOP voters after his impeachment stunt: -20%.

That’s a 95% favorability difference between the two. Another polling outfit called Civiqs puts Trump’s favorability at +79 and McConnell’s at -37.

McConnell has to know at this point that his leadership post in the Republican Party is all but over. He’s one of the last holdouts of the “Please Clap” wing of the Bush-McCain elitist failures. “Could someone, somewhere, please arrest Trump for… something!?”

All of the terror that The Swamp has displayed since the January 6th kerfuffle  at the Capitol tells us something important: Not only do they know that Hidin’ Biden is illegitimate; they also know that they will never get away with the crap that they pulled in the 2020 election again. “We the people” won’t let it happen. (Side note: It’s so adorable that they think 5,000 National Guard troops and some razor wire would stop an actual American insurrection!)

The insiders know the real magnitude of Trump’s 2020 landslide, so it terrifies them that he will run again. And they know they can’t pull off an operation of that scale ever again without getting caught and being subjected to a session of pitchforks and torches.

So now they’re going into cornered rat mode and trying to throw the kitchen sink at President Trump.

Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (D-CA) has introduced the “No Glory for Hate Act.” If enacted into federal law, no president who has been impeached twice could ever have a bridge, a road, a monument, or any other federal project named after them. You know – because we have so many presidents in our history who have been impeached twice! The bill would also prevent anyone with the name “Trump” from being buried with honors at Arlington National Cemetery.

This is what is known as an “ex post facto” law, also referred to as a Bill of Attainder. If that phrase sounds familiar, that’s because Bills of Attainder are literally banned under the US Constitution. James Madison called Bills of Attainder a violation of the social contract and a violation of “every principle of sound legislation.”

The founding fathers hated Bills of Attainder for good reason. The British government used them to go back and convict someone of a crime by skipping over the entire judicial process – which is what Sanchez’s bill would do. Donald Trump was never convicted of a crime, but he would be punished eternally by the Democrats for making The Swamp look like such an utter failure through his America First policies.

September can’t get here soon enough!
