There’s the Real Elon Musk Again—Right on Schedule!

Elon Musk has departed his White House role as the public face of DOGE. We have every reason to believe that Musk was a central figure in helping President Trump win reelection in 2024. Having a free-speech social media platform was extremely helpful. We also owe Musk a debt for the work that DOGE did in exposing the corruption and theft of our taxpayer dollars.

But as soon as Musk was out the door, he started dumping on the MAGA movement, trashing President Trump’s budget bill, and threatening to help Democrats take back the House and Senate in 2026. Right on schedule!

I hate to break it to some people, but Elon Musk was never truly part of the MAGA movement. Even though DOGE did a fantastic job, that wasn’t really what Musk was after in the relationship with President Trump. He doesn’t give a rat’s rear end about cutting government waste. He’s a gazillionaire and his entire business model is based on sucking up as much taxpayer money as possible for his rocket ship and electric car companies.

What do you think that $7,500 tax credit really does when you buy a new Tesla? It helps Elon Musk lower the cost of his wildly overpriced EV toys so that more people will buy them.

Anyway, Musk was after something entirely different than DOGE for his own personal benefit. He didn’t get what he wanted, so now he’s throwing a giant hissy fit.

In a follow-up tweet, he threatened to “fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.”

I’m sorry, but I don’t think that helping Democrats retake the House and Senate is going to help President Trump fulfill his agenda.

The real reason why all the “tech bros,” including Elon Musk, suddenly got close to President Trump in 2024 was not because they cared about the country or suddenly saw the light of the MAGA movement 13 years after Donald Trump started talking about American jobs and trade deficits.

They cozied up to President Trump because they want access to the Mother Lode of information.

There’s a huge arms race going on right now between the US, the EU, and China when it comes to AI. There’s also an arms race between all the AI companies out there.

OpenAI has developed ChatGPT. Google has Gemini. Microsoft has Co-Pilot. Mark Zuckerberg has Meta AI. Elon Musk has Grok. And there are dozens of others, all vying for the top spot.

However, the builders of these AI systems have all hit a brick wall in terms of how much information they can feed into them. Every one of the systems listed above has already absorbed ALL of the information on the internet. There aren’t any additional, easy-to-grab datasets out there to help AI make any more advancements.

One advantage that Zuckerberg and Musk have over the other companies is that they own massive social media channels. Every time you post a new picture on Facebook/Meta, or tweet a semi-original idea on X, that’s a new data point that can help make those AI systems just a teensy bit better.

Steve Bannon, Dr. Naomi Wolf, and others have pointed out that there are some remaining massive datasets that the tech bros don’t have access to. Those are all government datasets that aren’t publicly available.

Think about the massive amount of private information about you that the government has. They’ve got your social security number. They’ve got every phone call, text message, and email that you’ve sent since 9/11 (or possibly before that). They have all your medical records and health history because of Obamacare. The government knows where you are and where you go most of the time because of GPS data in your phone.

Tapping an AI system into those databases of Americans’ private information would give any of these companies a massive competitive boost in the marketplace. That was Elon Musk’s goal all along. He doesn’t care about MAGA or President Trump or government waste. He wanted the data. And because he didn’t get it, he’s turned back into his normal, b*tchy, man-child self again.

This illustrates the danger of letting new people into the MAGA movement. (Remember how the GOP undermined the Tea Party over a decade ago?) We should certainly welcome new people into the movement if they finally see the light. But we need to be very careful about putting them in charge of something, because they might have an ulterior motive.

President Trump came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower ten years ago this month. Why did it take Elon Musk nine years to finally become a MAGA member? The warning signs have always been there.
