The LA Riots Expose Cracks in the Democrat-Media Machine

Masked protesters set garbage bins and bikes on fire amid clashes during a natiowide demonstration in Paris, France on April 6, 2023.

For years, corporate media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and The New York Times have worked overtime to control the narrative around civil unrest in America. But this time, it’s different. The Los Angeles riots — triggered after an ICE operation targeting cartel-linked criminals — have made it impossible to keep up the illusion. Americans aren’t buying the “mostly peaceful” lie anymore.

While cars burn, stores are looted, and police dodge fireworks and rocks in broad daylight, the legacy media continues its old tricks: downplaying the chaos, shifting blame away from Democrats, and pushing far-fetched conspiracies about Donald Trump.

But it’s not working. The public sees what’s happening — and they’re not fooled.

Narrative Control? Gone.

When violence broke out across LA, legacy media rushed to minimize the damage. “Much of the city saw no violence,” the Associated Press reported. CNN’s Brian Stelter tried to frame the unrest as overblown “misinformation” spreading online. One local reporter even described rioters as “just a bunch of people having fun watching cars burn.”

Jimmy Kimmel chimed in too, mocking concerns and saying LA sees more “unrest” when a sports team wins.

But Americans can see the truth for themselves:

This isn’t a protest. It’s coordinated chaos. And the media’s frantic spin — labeling riots as “muted” or “joyful synchronized dance” — is being shredded in real time by raw footage posted online.

The Jan. 6 Double Standard

Perhaps the most glaring hypocrisy is how these same media figures treated January 6 versus what’s happening now in LA. A few hours of Capitol unrest led to years of investigations, arrests, and wall-to-wall coverage painting all conservatives as threats to democracy.

But after eight straight days of looting and attacks on law enforcement in Los Angeles, the same outlets are suddenly obsessed with “nuance,” “context,” and minimizing “isolated incidents.”

Democrats Desperate to Deflect

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, instead of condemning the rioters, blamed the President:

“We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved.”

LA Mayor Karen Bass implied that enforcing immigration laws caused the riots — never mind that the ICE operation targeted a cartel-connected money laundering ring.

While Newsom tells the public that “violent criminals will be held accountable,” the reality is that far-left prosecutors in California have a history of dropping charges against rioters. The real message being sent? Lawlessness is acceptable — as long as it’s politically convenient.

Public Opinion Is Turning

The media may be gaslighting the public, but sentiment is shifting.

Even Democrats are calling out the madness. Sen. John Fetterman admitted that his party “lost the moral high ground” by excusing violent protests.

Meanwhile, CNN’s own polling analyst Harry Enten revealed that amid the chaos, Trump’s approval rating on immigration skyrocketed.

It turns out Americans don’t want their cities turned into war zones, and they’re starting to realize who’s enabling it.

Foreign Flags and Anti-American Rhetoric

Another image turning off voters? Rioters waving Mexican flags while attacking American law enforcement.

Instead of condemning it, figures like former Univision anchor María Elena Salinas went on CNN to claim that California is still “part of Mexico.” Pop singer Katy Perry falsely claimed LA was founded by “Mexican settlers” in 1781 (it was actually founded by Spanish colonizers). These narratives might play on college campuses, but for ordinary Americans, they’re enraging.

No Moral Compass, Just Political Calculation

The biggest red flag in all of this isn’t just the dishonesty — it’s the total lack of moral clarity. Newsom and Bass aren’t urging calm or condemning destruction. They’re merely warning rioters not to “help Trump.” It’s politics first, always.

When a movement can’t bring itself to say, “don’t burn your city down,” it loses all legitimacy.

The Bottom Line

The Los Angeles riots have exposed a critical shift: the Democrat-media alliance no longer controls the national narrative. Their tired tricks — euphemisms, deflections, gaslighting — are falling flat.

Americans see the truth. The riots are violent, organized, and backed by radical political goals. And the people trying to convince you otherwise? They’re losing credibility by the minute.
