Some readers may remember that I called it a year ago when Democrats started pushing their “Defund the Police” movement: It was all a big money grab. Police unions are one of the few institutional public sector labor unions that have not crawled into bed with the Democrat Party. This enrages the Democrats, because they want all those sweet, sweet labor donations for themselves.

Defunding the cops was never about keeping communities safer or preventing police shootings of black criminals. It was always about the money – and this was illustrated perfectly this week by San Francisco Mayor London Breed (“London Breed” totally has to be a fake name).

Mayor Breed announced this week that she’s taking $3.75 million away from the San Francisco Police Department and Sheriff’s Office. She’s going to dole out the cash, instead, to black civic organizations in San Francisco.

This might seem weird to those of you who are old enough to remember all the way back when Donald Trump was in office. We were told, repeatedly and insistently, that it was “illegal” to take funds that were designated for one thing and divert them to another thing. When Donald Trump took already appropriated military and Department of Homeland Security funds to pay for the border wall, we were told that this was “probably an impeachable offense.”

So, how does Mayor London Breed get away with taking money that was allocated for policing and giving it away to black ACORN-types of community organizer groups? I guess it must be one of those things that is “technically” legal, even if it doesn’t make much sense.

And that’s okay, because it gives us a blueprint for how to punch the Democrats back twice as hard, so they will knock it off when it comes to “Defunding the Police.”

There’s an old joke about a little boy who complains to his mom, because his younger sister is always pulling his hair. “She doesn’t know it hurts,” explains the mom.

A few minutes later, the mom hears a screech from the living room. The little boy walks back in and mom asks, “What happened?”

“Now she knows!” explains the boy.

If Democrats think that they can break the social contract with America with their little “Defund the Police” antics, then local Republican leaders need to hit them back twice as hard. And now we know how.

Remember, liberals. You’re the ones who set these new rules. And having learned from Donald Trump, we’re going to fight back using those same rules.

What happens now if a clean, low-crime, Republican-run city wants to increase funding for policing, fire stations, pro-life family planning, or some other pet project?

Just take the money from the teacher’s unions! Before they do that, however, it would be nice if they tied education dollars to students, so that parents can use the funds in whatever way they see fit to educate their own children.

Just raid those federal Planned Parenthood funds!

Of course, the one thing that we all knew the Democrats were never going to do after defunding their own police departments was give the money back to the taxpayers. Why do that when they can instead give the money to the local Black Friends of Democrats Get-Out-The-Vote Drive?!

Thanks to London Breed yanking nearly $4 million from the SFPD and giving it to her friends, only the very poorest of San Francisco’s neighborhoods will suffer as a consequence. You know, the black neighborhoods?

San Francisco ironically has one of the worst records in the country when it comes to marginalizing its own black community. Environmentalist rules in the city prevent the building of virtually any new housing, let alone lower-income housing. So, in the 2020s, red-state Idaho now has a larger per capita black population than San Francisco.

The problem with my plan to defund the teacher unions and Planned Parenthood for more policing is that we have to keep electing Trumpian fighters to office, who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. The only way we’re getting out of the mess that Democrats have made of our institutions is to get down and dirty. Let’s go, Republican mayors!
