Biden Administration Has Already Spent $3 Billion on Migrant Facilities

Remember when President Joe Biden argued a border wall was too expensive? Maybe we should do a little cost comparison. In just 100 days leading the nation, Biden has spent $3 billion in contracts to house unaccompanied children who have illegally crossed the nation’s southern border.

The Associated Press report noted the contracts have taken place since February, with more than $2 billion in “no-bid” contracts to three groups. These companies have shifted from disaster relief and COVID-19 efforts to illegal immigration industry efforts.

In March, Fox News reported 18,890 unaccompanied children were taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol. A reported 270 unaccompanied kids cross the border each day.

The growing numbers have led to overcrowded facilities for the illegal immigrant children. After processing in border area locations, many of these unaccompanied children are shipped to other parts of the country.

Who pays for this $3 billion? YOU DO! While Biden proposes his latest multi-trillion dollar plans to improve infrastructure and families, he’s bankrupting America through immigration.

You won’t hear much about this on the evening news. Media are not allowed access to the camps for migrant children, hiding the real facts and conditions in which they live.

This cost doesn’t account for the ongoing cost increased immigrants will have on our nation long term. The worst part is that this crisis was totally preventable.

It only took a couple of policy changes to shift from some of the lowest immigration numbers in years to the highest. We don’t even need new immigration laws. We just need to enforce the laws we have.

During Trump’s tenure, he applied Title 42. The policy allowed officials to deport illegal immigrant children to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

In addition, Trump practiced the Remain in Mexico policy. This action allowed illegal immigrants from Mexico to wait outside of the U.S. until an asylum hearing.

Then there is the disastrous Obama era catch and release policy. This measure allows Border Patrol officials to arrest and then release illegal immigrants in the country until their hearing. Trump ended the practice. The Biden administration has restarted the use of catch-and-release.

Kamala Harris was assigned to address the so-called root causes of the immigration crisis. They allegedly include climate change, poverty, racism and abuse. But these problems existed before Biden took office.

If Harris wants to track down the root causes of immigration, she only needs to walk into the Oval Office and find her boss. The root cause is the policy change of the Biden administration.

While Washington’s leaders quickly surrounded the U.S. Capitol with a fence after the fear of violence, the nation’s southern border has become an open door. While most who enter are peaceable, there are certainly drug traffickers, human smugglers, Mexican cartel members and other criminals among the tens of thousands entering the nation.

Every day the border remains open, our nation’s security increases its risk. We don’t need $3 billion to house another country’s kids. We need a policy that secures our border.
