It’s hard to believe this is happening, but the Biden baby formula crisis is still ongoing. We first started reporting on this crisis about a year ago, but new analysis indicates that the shortages really began back in the summer of 2021, when Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was taking an extended paternity leave because of a baby he didn’t actually give birth to.

Families still – to this day – are struggling to find formula for their babies. House Republicans are now launching a probe to try to figure out why the crisis is ongoing, and why no one has been fired in the Biden regime for this debacle.

This shortage started because of the COVID lockdowns. In California, the “2 weeks to slow the spread” turned into 64 months and included nighttime curfews and regional stay-at-home orders. This broke the supply chain completely.

Remember the miles of container ships parked offshore at the Port of Los Angeles? Governor Gavin Newsom caused most of the country’s supply chain problems with his lockdown fever. Make a note of that in case Joe Biden steps on a banana peel and the Democrats need a replacement in 2024.

In February of 2022, as the Newsom-Buttigieg tag-team of incompetence was taking place, Abbott Nutrition was shut down in Sturgis, Michigan by Joe Biden’s Food and Drug Administration appointees. That’s the main food plant in the US that makes most of the baby formula for the government’s WIC (Women, Infants and Children) assistance program.

The plant was initially shut down because four babies in the US came down with bacterial infections. The FDA thought the infections might have come from contamination at the Abbott baby formula plant. They sent investigators in and took samples everywhere, and then sanitized the entire plant just to be on the safe side. That took just three days. No infection was found at the plant.

Then the Biden regime never gave Abbott authorization to reopen the plant. The plant sat there dormant with all its workers furloughed, even as parents were buying up all the remaining formula in multiple states.

The situation got so bad that even the mainstream media started to notice that Americans from the Great Lakes down to Texas were complaining about bare store shelves with no baby formula to be found.

Joe Biden sprang into action, by taking the humiliating step of importing three planeloads of formula from Mexico and Europe. “Operation Fly Formula” was a dud, and the crisis continued.

Biden’s FDA finally allowed the Abbott plant to reopen in June. But just three weeks later, Sturgis, Michigan suffered through a torrential rainstorm that flooded the Abbott Nutrition plant. It was shut down for months for repairs, and then took even more months to get restarted once the workers were finally allowed back inside to start producing baby formula again.

Here we are in March of 2023, and the baby formula crisis isn’t really expected to be fully resolved until this coming summer. It will take two full years for this dumpster fire of an “administration” to solve a crisis that Donald Trump would have fixed in TWO MINUTES.

Amazingly, no one has been fired at the FDA in all this time.

This week, the House Oversight Committee and the Health Care and Financial Services Subcommittee – both chaired by Republicans – sent letters demanding documents from the FDA, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the White House, to try to figure out just what the hell happened. Why are babies going hungry in what used to be the wealthiest country in the world?

The Republicans note in their letter to Biden’s FDA Commissioner, “Instead of removing or reassigning the individuals at fault for the poor response to this crisis, the announced restructuring of the food and nutrition division simply requires certain offices and personnel to report to the newly created position of Deputy Commissioner for Human Foods.”

So, they know which buffoons kept the Abbott plant shut down for months after no contamination was found. And instead of firing those idiot bureaucrats for incompetence or malice or whatever the issue was, they invented a new office at the FDA and shuffled the incompetents over there. Talk about job security! But there’s no accountability whatsoever. And the shortage of baby formula is going to continue until at least next summer.
