Even the FBI Said 'This Is Too Far' — Biden's DOJ Targeted Parents Anyway

Newly obtained documents prove what every parent who ever stood up at a school board meeting already knew: the Biden Department of Justice deliberately targeted moms and dads as domestic threats even after the FBI's own leadership warned the White House to pump the brakes. When the FBI thinks your crackdown on suburban parents is excessive, you've entered a special category of government overreach.

But Merrick Garland's DOJ didn't just ignore the FBI. They ignored the National Sheriffs' Association too. Apparently the only voices that mattered belonged to radical leftist activists.

America First Legal obtained the documents through ongoing litigation, and the timeline is damning. On September 27, 2021, Ephraim McDowell — an official at the White House Domestic Policy Council — emailed Kevin Chambers, the official drafting what would become Attorney General Garland's infamous memorandum, with materials from the National School Boards Association. That's the same NSBA that compared parents to domestic terrorists in a letter to the Biden White House.

Seven days later, on October 4, 2021, Garland published the memorandum directing the FBI and federal prosecutors to address "threats" at school board meetings. Seven days. From NSBA hysteria to federal law enforcement mobilization in one week.

But here's the part that should make your blood boil. FBI Deputy Assistant Director Jay Greenberg expressed "some concern" about the memo and requested "additional time to engage" before the DOJ published its messaging. The FBI — not exactly known for its restraint — was asking for the brakes. Garland's DOJ floored it instead.

The National Sheriffs' Association raised objections too. The people who actually work in communities, who actually know the difference between a concerned parent and a genuine threat, were waving red flags. The DOJ steamrolled right over them.

Ian Prior, Senior Advisor at America First Legal, didn't mince words: "These documents prove that the Biden Administration ignored explicit warnings from the FBI's own leadership and the National Sheriffs' Association to appease radical leftist activists."

That's the whole ballgame right there. This was never about safety. It was never about protecting school board members from violence. It was about punishing dissent. Parents who had the audacity to ask why their kids were being taught critical race theory or why masks were still mandated got the full weight of federal law enforcement aimed at their heads.

AFL Counsel Will Scolinos put it plainly: "Parents speaking at school board meetings were never a national security threat, and the Biden DOJ knew it."

Of course they knew it. That was the point. You don't sic the FBI on PTA moms because you think they're actually dangerous. You do it because you want every other parent in America to see what happens when you speak up. It's intimidation dressed in a legal memo.

The documents are just the latest evidence that the Biden-era DOJ operated less like a law enforcement agency and more like a political enforcement arm. When your own FBI deputy assistant director and the nation's sheriffs are telling you to slow down, and you speed up anyway, you're not pursuing justice. You're pursuing a political agenda.

Thank God those days are over. But we should never forget what they tried to do to American parents who simply wanted a say in their children's education.
