Drug Cartel Captures US Territory in New Mexico as Border Patrol Retreats

A Mexican drug cartel has captured Mt. Cristo Rey in Sunland Park, New Mexico, and repelled US Customs and Border Patrol agents from its newly claimed territory. For the first time in any of our lifetimes, the United States has ceded territory to a hostile invading force.

The amazing thing about this is that New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) appears to be simply ceding territory to the cartel. She could have the National Guard there right now—defending America—but she hasn’t even commented on it. Neither has Joe Biden.

Texas is finally taking strong actions to repel the invasion. They’ve put troops on the border, built new barriers, and set up acres of razor wire that the illegals don’t want to get tangled up in. As a result, the cartels have moved their business operations to the border with New Mexico. The invasion happening at Sunland Park today looks like it did in Eagle Pass, TX, a few weeks ago.

Remember last year when some Guatemalans planted their national flag on that American island in the Rio Grande? That was just too embarrassing and insulting to Texas. They hopped onto the island and ripped the flag down. You don’t just get to grab US territory and claim it as your own, bub. Well… apparently you do if it’s in a state run by Democrats!

Matt Finn, who is a fairly reliable reporter at Fox News, was in Sunland Pass this week. He decided to walk up onto Mt. Cristo Rey and see what was happening. Right as he got there, the Border Patrol was retreating from the mountain. An agent informed the Fox News crew that the mountain was “not ours” anymore. “It’s theirs,” he told Finn, referring to the cartels.

They only stayed on the mountain for a few minutes but saw a steady stream of drug cartel scouts and coyotes, along with waves of fighting-aged young men. There are no women and children crossing the mountain. The Border Patrol agents in that sector were so badly outnumbered that they were forced to retreat.

Mt. Cristo Rey is adorned by a 29-foot-tall statue of Jesus. The statue was erected in 1940 thanks to the efforts of Fr. Lourdes Costa, “Who in 1933 after looking out the back window of his residence in the community of Smeltertown, envisioned erecting a monument at the summit of this glorious mountain.”

Mt. Cristo Rey has been a holy place for American Catholics for 84 years now. People make pilgrimages up the mountain every year in October. Vandalism and gang-related graffiti now adorn the site. It’s been desecrated by the hordes of invaders crossing the mountain. There’s feces and garbage everywhere.

Ruben Escandon, Jr., is the spokesperson for the Mt. Cristo Rey Restoration Committee. He told Fox14, “I continuously question why they were not going to put up a fence on the Southside directly behind the monument and their answer was the terrain was too treacherous.”

The damages that have been done to the holy site are estimated at $15,000 to $20,000. The Restoration Committee doesn’t have the funds to clean up and restore the site right now. It relies heavily on donations that are raised during the pilgrimages up the mountain, which won’t happen until October. Not that it’s safe to go up on the mountain right now anyway.

It’s hard to look at this as anything other than a sign of doom for the United States of America. It’s humiliating. We’re just surrendering territory to the cartels now without a shot being fired. Imagine the shame our ancestors would feel.

The Governor of New Mexico is running around right now blathering about how she wants to make electric cars mandatory for everyone. She doesn’t seem to realize that her state will not have electricity a decade from now if this tide of illegal invasion is not stopped.

There are two options here. We either reelect Donald Trump with a mandate to do everything necessary to secure the border, or America will fall as an intact nation. A nation that cedes territory to a hostile foreign power this easily will not be a nation for very long.
