Democrat Congressional Candidate Wants to Throw Zionists in Internment Camps — And Her Party Shrugs

A Democrat running for Congress in Texas has proposed writing legislation to imprison American Zionists in a converted ICE detention center, and if you think that sounds like something out of 1930s Germany, congratulations — your pattern recognition still works.

But sure, Republicans are the fascists. We get told that every single day.

Maureen Galindo, a sex therapist turned congressional candidate in Texas District 35, laid out her platform in terms that would make a dictator blush. According to LifeZette, her campaign declared that "when Maureen gets into Congress, she'll write legislation so that all Zionism and support of Zionism is undoubtedly Anti-Semitic." But she didn't stop there. Her campaign went on to promise that "she'll turn Karnes ICE Detention Center into a prison for American Zionists and former ICE officers."

Read that again. A Democrat candidate for the United States Congress wants to build internment camps for Jews and federal law enforcement officers. In America. In 2026.

Galindo is running in a primary runoff next Tuesday against fellow Democrat Johnny Garcia, a former Bexar County Public Information Officer, in the race to replace outgoing Rep. Greg Casar in TX-35 — a district stretching from San Antonio to the Austin suburbs. In the March primary, Galindo pulled 29.2% to Garcia's 27%, which means a significant chunk of Democrat voters in that district looked at this woman and said, "Yeah, she seems great."

Here's where it gets even more fun. Galindo raised less than $10,000 on her own. She's not exactly a fundraising juggernaut. But the Lead Left PAC swooped in and dumped $428,713 into supporting her campaign — part of over $1 million the PAC has spent across three races. So progressive dark money is actively bankrolling a candidate who wants to imprison people based on their religious and political beliefs. Lovely.

Garcia, to his credit, called it out. "Instead of focusing on table-kitchen issues my opponent is pushing conspiracy theories and hateful rhetoric," he said. That might be the understatement of the century, Johnny. She's not pushing "hateful rhetoric" — she's proposing actual internment camps.

The watchdog group StopAntisemitism nailed it perfectly: "The standard that Democrats rightly apply to right-wing antisemites must apply equally to left-wing Jew-haters." Spoiler alert — it won't. It never does. The left has given itself a permanent hall pass on antisemitism as long as it's dressed up in progressive language.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee tried to distance themselves from the mess. DCCC spokesperson Madison Andrus claimed "Republicans are spending nearly $1 million to uplift a violent antisemite" — as if it's somehow the GOP's fault that a Democrat is running on a platform of ethnic imprisonment. That's some world-class deflection right there.

Meanwhile, National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson Christian Martinez had the quote of the day: "Democrats Johnny Garcia and Maureen Galindo are tearing each other apart in a full-blown primary civil war." And he's not wrong. This is what happens when a party spends years flirting with radical anti-Israel sentiment — eventually someone takes it to its logical, horrifying conclusion.

Galindo's platform also includes impeaching President Trump and dismantling ICE entirely. Because of course it does. It's the progressive bingo card from hell — tear down law enforcement, punish political opponents, and throw anyone who supports Israel into a repurposed detention facility.

Let's be crystal clear about what's happening here. If any Republican candidate — any single one, anywhere in the country — had proposed turning a federal facility into a prison for people based on their ethnicity or political beliefs, it would be the lead story on every network for six straight weeks. CNN would need a second building just to house the outrage panels.

But a Democrat does it, and you have to read about it from LifeZette and us. Funny how that works.

The runoff is next Tuesday. Texas District 35 voters will decide if this is the kind of person they want representing them in Congress. We'll see if Democrat voters still have a line they won't cross — or if the party of "tolerance" has finally eaten itself completely.
