16-Year-Old Female Wrestler Sues Washington State After Male Wrestler Competitor Sexually Assaults at All-Girls Tournament

A 16-year-old girl named Kallie Keeler did what every parent in America wishes their kid would never have to do — she lawyered up and sued an entire state because the adults in charge cared more about gender ideology than her safety. Keeler, a sophomore wrestler, was allegedly sexually assaulted by a male competitor who identifies as a female at an all-girls wrestling tournament in December 2025, and now Washington state is about to find out what happens when you sacrifice a child on the altar of wokeness.

She didn't write a sad social media post. She didn't beg for sympathy. She decided enough is enough and I'm not going to let what happened to me, happen to anyone else. And she's doing it the only way you can when you live under woke leadership -- she's suing.

Her lawsuit names the Puyallup School District, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction as defendants. In other words, every single institution that was supposed to protect this girl and instead let a biological male compete against her --without her prior knowledge-- in a girls-only event.

Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Suzanne Beecher laid it out plainly: "Kallie is a sophomore in high school... During the match, she was sexually assaulted by this male athlete." A girl went to compete in her sport, in what was supposed to be a girls' tournament, and was assaulted by a biological male that the state of Washington said belonged there.

ADF Senior Counsel Kate Anderson, Director of the ADF Center for Parental Rights said, "Washington state officials insist on pushing gender ideology at all costs — even at the expense of girls' safety and privacy," Anderson said.

At all costs. That's the part that should make your blood boil.

Here's where the numbers tell the real story. According to Beecher, 27 states now have laws that specifically protect the rights of women and girls in athletics. Washington? Not one of them. It's among the 23 states still allowing males to compete in the female category. Twenty-three states that apparently missed the memo that biology isn't a social construct.

The incident happened in December 2025, but wasn't reported to the Pierce County Sheriff until January 30, 2026 — nearly two months later. Pierce County Sheriff Keith Swank confirmed the investigation, saying, "It is in the hands of the prosecuting attorney's office now." And what did the prosecuting attorney do? Declined to file charges.

Of course they did.

Puyallup School District spokeswoman Sarah Gillispie offered the standard corporate non-answer: "This matter is under investigation... What we can say is that student safety is a top priority." A top priority. They let a male wrestler into a girls' tournament and a girl got assaulted, but sure — safety is a "top priority." Right up there with diversity statements and pronoun cards.

The state's top education official, Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal, oversees the very policies that made this possible. His office is named in the suit. Good. Every bureaucrat who signed off on letting biological males compete against girls should have to answer for it in court.

There's a glimmer of hope on the horizon though. Washington voters will get a crack at this in November with ballot initiative IL26-638, which would address the policies that created this nightmare. The U.S. Supreme Court, with its 6-3 conservative majority, may eventually weigh in on the broader issue as well.

But Kallie Keeler isn't waiting for any of that. She's 16 years old, and she's taking on the entire state of Washington because the people who were supposed to protect her decided their ideology mattered more than her body.

That's not just courage. That's what fighting back actually looks like.
