The Deadly October 18th Insurrection at the US House Nearly Ended Our Democracy

A deadly insurrection at the Cannon House Office Building on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, nearly toppled the US government. The Democrat Party and their friends in Hamas stormed the building in a massive mob action. It was worse than a million 9-11s and a million Pearl Harbors and a million Civil Wars. We don’t have an exact figure yet, but we’re guessing that at least three dozen cops were probably, most likely, killed before the armed insurrection was stopped. We were this close to losing our democracy. Or something.

It should be interesting to see how the Department of Justice handles this one. If you have an office pool going on this one, here’s the safest possible bet: A handful of the October 18ers will be arrested on misdemeanor charges. Then, in about six months, the US Attorney’s office will dismiss all the charges, claiming they were just a bunch of kids having fun.

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) incited the violent insurrection by giving a speech outside the Capitol. Here’s just a small snippet of what she said to rile up the crowd before they stormed the building, interrupted official proceedings of Congress, and endangered the lives of multiple Members of Congress:

“They think we’re joking,” screeched Rep. Tlaib. (This woman only has one volume setting, and it’s always dialed up to 11.)  “I mean, I think the White House, and everyone thinks that we’re just gonna sit back and just continue to let this happen.”

Right before the insurrectionists stormed the building and briefly seized control of it, Tlaib screamed, “I think a lot of people are not going to forget this.”

Compare the inciting statements that Rep. Tlaib made versus the speech that President Donald Trump gave on January 6, 2021. Trump told his crowd of supporters to “peacefully and patriotically make our voices heard.”

That’s a far cry from stating, “Everyone thinks that we’re just gonna sit back and just continue to let this happen,” or “A lot of people are not going to forget this.”

You can sense the undertone of violence in Hamas-supporter Tlaib’s comments, versus the undertone of peace in President Trump’s speech.

There’s no comparison. And yet President Trump is the one who is facing multiple life sentences in prison for inciting an insurrection.

Some have claimed that because this insurrection happened in the Cannon House Office Building, it’s not the same as January 6th. That’s not true at all and in some ways, this was worse.

On January 6th, the feds and the Capitol Police knew that the US Capitol was going to be breached—because they were the ones who did the breaching. They evacuated all the Senators and Representatives before any protesters got in the building. Most of the House Members were in their offices in the Cannon House Office Building when it was breached, and they had little to no protection there. Nobody evacuated them.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was giving a statement to reporters on a second-floor balcony when a Hamas terrorist barged right up to her, screaming and jabbing his terrorist finger in her face. She kind of scooted away with him and some staffers got in his way, before a police officer finally meandered over (taking his sweet time) and gently grabbed the terrorist by the arm and ushered him away from her.

No Representative or Senator on January 6th had any protester get that close to them. Even Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who claimed she was almost raped by a police officer on January 6th, never claimed that the attempted rapist cop got that close to her. She was obviously lying about the whole thing, but even giving her the benefit of the doubt, AOC was never in as much danger as Rep. Greene was on October 18th.

Well, you know what this all means. Republicans in Congress need to form an October 18th Committee to get to the bottom of this. Plus, the Department of Justice needs to send SWAT teams to kick in the doors of these insurrectionists and then hold them in solitary confinement for a year before putting them on trial. If that does not happen, then it will mean that we have two standards of justice in this country. And that can’t be true, because AG Merrick Garland says the DOJ treats everyone equally.

We’re waiting for those violent arrests and pre-dawn raids, Merrick Garland. Don’t disappoint us!
