A leftwing reporter from Tampa, FL, has been arrested on 14 counts of hacking and disseminating stolen materials online in 2023. Prosecutors say that Tim Burke, a former editor for leftist publications like Vox, is the person who stole and leaked off-air clips of Tucker Carlson when he was still working at Fox News. Burke and a co-conspirator are accused of hacking into the Fox News live feed without authorization.

This happened in the days before Tucker was ultimately fired by the failed Fox News network. The clips of Tucker’s off-air interactions with his loyal staffers quickly went viral. The mainstream liberal media, which hates Tucker passionately, said the clips proved that he was a misogynistic creep. For Tucker’s fans, however, the clips showed that he was just as funny and down-to-earth in real life as he is when the cameras are rolling.

In one clip, Tucker asks his make-up artist if “pillow fights ever break out” in the women’s bathroom. In another, he talked about having to sit for ten hours of depositions with a “slimy mother*cker” lawyer from Dominion Voting Systems.

Unless you’re the type of person who announces their preferred pronouns on their Twitter bio, there was nothing controversial or upsetting that Tucker said in any of these stolen behind-the-scenes videos.

Tim Burke was arrested on Thursday morning on 14 counts alleging that he was the person who stole those clips and spread them around online to try to hurt Carlson’s reputation. Charging documents say that Burke and a co-conspirator used “compromised credentials” to hack into the Fox News live feed and steal the clips.

The co-conspirator stated in a direct message that they stored the stolen clips on a server that they use “for all of their footage they post to social, send to partners, etc.”

Burke is an ultra-progressive communist and his wife, Lynn Hurtak, is a member of the Tampa Bay City Council. For an idea of Burke’s politics, here’s a typical tweet from him on Twitter/X:

“Run on progressive policies
Win on progressive policies
Enact progressive policies.”

Imagine having a personal life so hollow and devoid of meaning that you would post something like that on the internet.

Burke has been charged with one count of conspiracy, six counts of accessing a protected computer without authorization, and seven counts of disclosing electronic communications.

Neither Fox News nor Tucker Carlson are mentioned anywhere in the charging documents. Tucker is referred to at one point as a host for “a multinational media company based in New York City.”

Burke’s attorneys don’t even deny that he was the person who disseminated the clips online.

One of his lawyers stated, “It’s not hacking, it’s just good journalism.”

First of all, it’s not journalism. It served no journalistic purpose to post behind-the-scenes clips of Tucker Carlson on the internet. Burke and his leftwing friends in the media reveled over the clips because they thought that they were hurting Tucker’s reputation. They were offended that Tucker Carlson is a straight white man who exhibits unapologetic masculinity, so they tried to wreck his career.

Second of all, it’s absolutely hacking. There’s no journalistic tactic that you can use to access the encrypted satellite feed of Fox News or any other network news station. It’s not a public satellite feed.

The only way you can access it is if you have the proper credentials, and there’s zero chance that Fox News gave those credentials to Tim Burke. This means that Burke obtained credentials from someone else—probably one of the snowflakes working at Fox who was butt-hurt about Tucker’s popularity. Tucker Carlson wouldn’t even have credentials to access that satellite feed, so why would Tim Burke have them?

The amazing thing is that the FBI arrested Tim Burke in the first place. The FBI is usually too busy harassing January 6ers and other Trump supporters, so they don’t have time to deal with real crimes.

Burke must be frustrated that he’s not getting preferential treatment from the FBI. It could be that Burke is just so unimportant that the FBI figured they’d arrest him in an attempt to portray itself as a non-partisan law enforcement agency.

At any rate, we’re glad to see that someone appears to be taking the hack and leak of those clips seriously.
