Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s vanity shutdown has entered its fourth week. Democrats recently voted for the twelfth time to keep the government shut down. The USDA has announced that SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps) will run out in the next few days, and more than 40 million Americans won’t be able to purchase groceries. Virginia has become the first red state to try to prevent the Democrats from starving children to death. Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin has declared a state of emergency to bridge the gap.

“The Democrat Shutdown will cause SNAP benefits to run out for over 850,000 Virginians in need starting November 1, 2025,” Youngkin announced on Thursday.

“I refuse to let hungry Virginians be used as leverage by Congressional Democrats,” continued Youngkin. “I am declaring a State of Emergency due to the Democrat Shutdown to protect hungry Virginians in need.”

The state of emergency will allow Virginia to continue funding SNAP benefits at the state level. No children will be going without food in Virginia, thanks to the strong fiscal leadership of the Republican governor.

Blue states are complaining about SNAP benefits running out, but none of them are offering to bridge the gap until the shutdown ends. That’s because they can’t. California, Oregon, Illinois, New York, and other states are broke after showering illegal aliens with lavish benefits for the past four years under Joe Biden. Virginia has cash reserves because of conservative leadership. Many other red states are in the same boat, and we suspect they’ll step in soon to do the same as Governor Youngkin.

It’s looking more and more like this was the Democrats’ plan all along. They don’t have any alternative plan to run the country, so “Orange Man Bad” is all they’ve got. They want their loyal foot soldiers rioting in the streets, so they can blame it all on Donald Trump. So far, they haven’t been able to achieve that.

Look at what an embarrassing failure the “No Kings” protests were. MSNBC deceptively ran footage from a 2021 demonstration in Boston, to try to make it look like more people had shown up. Most of the protesters looked like nursing home escapees, holding up signs they couldn’t read because they forgot to bring their bifocals.

Not one dumpster was set on fire, and not a single mobility assistance walker was tossed through the front window of a Starbucks. It was a total “L” for the Democrat Party leadership.

Remember President Trump’s first term? On Inauguration Day in 2017, Democrats were rioting in the streets of DC. They were starting fires, barricading streets, and tipping cars over. Madonna read terrorist poetry about blowing up the White House, and they all wore those silly vagina hats. (And somehow, the plan still failed!)

The Democrats’ base wouldn’t riot at the No Kings protests. They rioted one time over the ICE raids in Los Angeles, until the president sent in the Marines. If they won’t follow clear instructions from the leaders, maybe the Democrats have decided to starve them into protesting. Which is probably going to happen in some blue states after SNAP benefits run out.

Be ready for that.

It’s been tough to get the people riled up against Donald Trump this time, because his second term is such a stark contrast to the past four years. Inflation on consumer prices was just 0.2% in September, compared to 5% a year ago under the Biden regime. The average price for gas under Biden was over $5 a gallon, and it’s down to $3.06 today. President Trump is predicting that he’ll have it down to $2 soon.

The average family lost about $13,000 per year in purchasing power because of Biden-flation over a four-year period. Americans have gained $1,181 a year in purchasing power in 2025, after having Donald Trump running the show for just a few months. And it’s only going to get better from here on out.

What’s the Democrats’ response when things are going so well?

“Wreck it! Let the children starve!”

Governor Youngkin should be commended for how he’s handling this crisis. People who rely on SNAP benefits in blue states are about to get a harsh lesson on just how much their Democrat leaders care about them. The Democrats could end Chuck Schumer’s vanity shutdown immediately if they wanted to. They’d rather let people go hungry.
