In a move that’s sure to give the open-borders crowd a case of the vapors, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services just announced it’s turning up the heat on the naturalization test. That’s right, folks — no more skating through on a smile and six civics questions you cribbed off a flashcard. Under the leadership of Director Joseph Edlow, USCIS is putting the “test” back in “citizenship test.” And liberals? Well, they’re already clutching their soy lattes in horror.
At an event hosted by the Center for Immigration Studies, Edlow laid it out in terms even a Berkeley freshman could understand, though they’d still need a safe space after hearing it. The current test, which requires a bare-minimum grasp of English and a few softball questions about American civics, is getting a much-needed upgrade. The new version? Think less “kindergarten quiz” and more “Welcome to America, now prove you mean it.”
Edlow dropped the truth bomb: “Frankly, this test is just too easy.” Translation: If you want to be a citizen of the greatest country on Earth, you should probably know more than just “George Washington” and “freedom of speech.” We’re talking essays, people. That’s right — applicants may soon have to write out their thoughts on what it means to be an American. If that concept alone confuses you, spoiler alert: you’re not ready.
And before the professional hand-wringers in the Democrat Party get all up in arms, let’s be clear — this isn’t about exclusion. It’s about expectation. Becoming a U.S. citizen is a privilege, not a participation trophy. You don’t get to come here, enjoy all the benefits of American life, and then shrug when asked how the Constitution works. This isn’t a game of bingo. It’s a solemn commitment to a country built on liberty, law, and yes, a working knowledge of how the government functions.
Of course, the left will scream that this is “xenophobic” or “discriminatory,” because to them, asking for anything more than blind allegiance to the DNC platform is somehow oppressive. But let’s not forget, these are the same people who think illegal immigrants should vote, get free healthcare, and skip the line ahead of folks who’ve been waiting years to enter legally. So no, we’re not exactly taking civic advice from the party that thinks borders are optional and pronouns are mandatory.
Edlow made it crystal clear: “I am declaring war on anyone that is coming to this country and wants to get a benefit, but doesn’t want the responsibility of what it means to actually be a U.S. citizen.” And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the kind of leadership we’ve been missing since the last time the adults were in charge.
Let’s be honest — under the Biden regime, the border was a revolving door and “immigration policy” was basically “come on in, just vote blue.” The naturalization process became so watered down, you half expected them to start handing out passports with a coupon for a free latte. But now, under a real administration that actually respects America’s laws and values, we’re seeing a return to sanity.
Citizenship isn’t a right you inherit just by showing up with a suitcase and a dream. It’s an earned honor. And earning it means understanding the Constitution, speaking the language, and appreciating what this country stands for — not just what you can get from it.
So to all those who truly want to become Americans the right way, we say welcome — study hard, write from the heart, and raise your hand proudly when you take that oath. As for the rest who think it should be handed out like candy on Halloween — tough luck. Uncle Sam just raised the bar, and it’s about time.
