Unqualified Judge Frees Criminal; Innocent Refugee Murdered

Well folks, if you thought the justice system couldn’t sink any lower, buckle up, because North Carolina just gave us a real-life episode of “Law & Disorder.” Meet Teresa Stokes, the magistrate judge who released a 14-time repeat offender with a rap sheet longer than a CVS receipt — and who, surprise surprise, went on to murder an innocent woman who had fled Ukraine.

But here’s the kicker: Stokes isn’t even a licensed attorney. That’s right. The woman with the power to detain or release dangerous criminals has never passed the North Carolina bar. You’d expect a judge to at least have a law degree, but apparently in North Carolina, the only requirement is a pulse and a DEI recommendation.

Now, let’s rewind. The killer, Decarlos Brown Jr., had a criminal resume that screamed “do not release under any circumstances.” Fourteen arrests, a past conviction for armed robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, violent assault record, and oh yeah, a diagnosed case of schizophrenia. His last arrest? Calling 911 because he believed someone gave him a “man-made material” that controlled his every move. Sounds like the kind of guy you want roaming the streets, right? Well, to Stokes, that was apparently just quirky behavior. So she released him without bond — a pinky promise to show up in court — and not longer after, he brutally stabbed 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska to death in broad daylight.

Zarutska fled a war-torn country, hoping to start a new life in the Land of the Free. Instead, she was murdered on a Charlotte rail car by a man who should have been behind bars,  all because a politically-appointed judge decided public safety was less important than progressive policies.

And let’s talk about that appointment. Stokes wasn’t chosen for her legal acumen — she doesn’t have any. She was chosen because she checked the right diversity boxes. That’s what happens when you swap qualifications for quotas. The Democrats and their army of woke bureaucrats have turned the justice system into an equity-themed game of Mad Libs. Insert “social justice,” remove “common sense,” and voilà — you get unqualified judges making deadly decisions.

Of course, now the left is scrambling, acting shocked that a non-lawyer with no courtroom experience was allowed to play judge. But this is exactly what they wanted. Cashless bail, leniency for career criminals, and a justice system more focused on feelings than facts. The result? Innocent people like Iryna pay the ultimate price, while the left holds candlelight vigils and makes excuses.

Republican lawmakers in North Carolina are finally stepping in, demanding Stokes be removed from the bench. Congressman Tim Moore put it bluntly: “This tragedy was preventable. There must be accountability.” And he’s right. This wasn’t just a lapse in judgment — it was a gross failure of duty, and someone needs to answer for it.

And let’s not ignore the broader implications. This is what happens when Democrats put ideology over reality. When they prioritize the offender over the victim. When they insist that a criminal justice system should be “more compassionate” — apparently by being more dangerous. It’s not just a policy disagreement anymore; it’s a public safety crisis.

We need to bring back law and order, not law and lunacy. The American people deserve judges who understand the law, who value the safety of citizens over the feelings of felons, and who don’t treat the bench like a DEI internship program. Enough is enough. Let’s clean house, restore sanity, and stop letting the left gamble with innocent lives.
