Tariffs are a difficult subject to talk about because most of us don’t have a good understanding of how they work. President Donald Trump’s tariff policy comes across as an alien concept to many Americans, because our country’s past leaders haven’t even attempted to protect American jobs and industries for over a century. In one of the surest signs that President Trump’s tariffs are working for America, Mexico’s government just passed a sweeping new tariff law that will benefit the United States.
In a story that got zero news coverage in the United States, Mexico just imposed a 50% tariff on imported textiles, shoes, appliances, cars, and car parts. In total, the tariffs will hit over 1,400 products, all of which are imported from… Communist China.
To understand what a sea change that is, we need to remember Trump’s long-term goal of abolishing Bill Clinton’s economy-killing NAFTA agreement. During his first term in office, Trump renegotiated the North American Free Trade Agreement. It’s now the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
The USMCA was a drastic improvement over NAFTA, but it still makes no sense for America to continue in a long-term trilateral “free” trade agreement with Mexico and Canada. Keeping a North American free trade zone among our three countries means that China will simply use Mexico and Canada as pass-through countries to screw over the United States and avoid Trump’s 50% tariffs on them.
Mexico has sent a clear message with this new tariff package. They value their trade relationship with America more than the one they have with China, and they’re not going to be Xi Jinping’s puta. The Mexican government has made repeated moves this year to signal that it plans to maintain good relations with the US. What’s Canada done in relation to the tariffs? Whine and make hollow threats. They sound like an enemy nation, because that’s what they are.
Trump’s ultimate plan is to rip up the USMCA, probably sometime in the next year. He plans to replace that with bilateral trade agreements—one with Mexico and one with Canada. This makes great long-term strategic sense. For all its faults (and it has many), Mexico is a capitalist country.
Canada has turned into a communist sh*thole.
If you don’t believe that statement, you haven’t been paying attention to Canada lately. They’re throwing pastors in jail for reading Bible passages. In British Columbia, the government has initiated the process of confiscating people’s homes and giving them back to Indian tribes that were conquered two centuries ago. (New York City will begin experimenting with a similar program very soon under Mayor Mamdani!)
The Canadian government seized the bank accounts of people who protested Justin Trudeau’s COVID vaccine mandates. Doctors in Canada are euthanizing autistic teenagers for “loneliness” under the government’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) program.
Based on Canada’s current Third World mass immigration policies, white Canadians are projected to become a minority in their own country by 2041. That’s only 15 years from now! It’s only a matter of time before “rebels” who oppose these policies will start ending up in mass graves in Canada. Mark it down. That’s what always happens next.
Because Canadian leaders fell so heavily for global warming propaganda (promoted mainly by… China), they completely rearranged their economy. They destroyed their energy infrastructure. They only have four coal plants left. They can’t build steel and other metals needed for manufacturing, so the entire Canadian economy is now centered around jobs assembling Chinese products to ship to America. They’re like Xi Jinping’s IKEA furniture plant.
Trump’s logic is sound. Why should Canada have an equal trade agreement as Mexico, when it’s not even a real country? Canada is a Chinese vassal state. They have no choice but to try to rip America off in any trade agreement. Meanwhile, Mexico is strong enough to stand on its own and stand side by side with the US in overcoming China economically.
We know this story sounds like a boring little sidenote. Mexico imposes tariffs against China? Big whoop!
But this is a big deal, folks. President Trump’s tariff policies are laying the economic groundwork for America’s comeback. It will take time for it all to unfold, but our children and grandchildren are going to reap the benefits for years to come when the dust finally settles.
And have you noticed? Whatever happened to that giant recession that all the “experts” predicted would happen by September because of the tariffs?
