Target Closing Early Due to Crime in Liberal Leftist San Francisco

Retail giant Target is closing its San Francisco stores early due to increased crime across the city, according to local affiliate ABC 7.

The ABC affiliate reported the statement of a Target spokesman on Friday, who said, “For more than a month, we’ve been experiencing a significant and alarming rise in theft and security incidents at our San Francisco stores, similar to reports from other retailers in the area.”

He added, “Target is engaging local law enforcement, elected officials and community partners to address our concerns. With the safety of our guests, team members and communities as our top priority, we’ve temporarily reduced our operating hours in six San Francisco stores.”

Target locations will close at 6 p.m. instead of 10 p.m. to increase safety. One area store has already been closed due to problems with theft, according to the report.

If this is the outcome of a city that supports liberal policies and the defunding of police, don’t expect the rest of America to follow. Simply put, liberalism is bad for business. Going woke leads to going broke for many retailers.

Target is not alone in its problems with San Francisco. Both Walgreens and CVS, two of America’s top pharmacy retailers, have closed several area locations.

Keep in mind, this is in addition to closures and restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the Bay area already having one of the highest costs of doing business in the nation.

In contrast, neighboring Arizona is booming. Phoenix was the nation’s fastest-growing city in 2020, with many attributing the growth to Californians leaving to Arizona for freedom and lower costs.

Why is it that Target and other stores face such problems in San Francisco, but not in Tampa or Houston? Simply put, governments in those two cities won’t put up with the kind of criminal activity allowed in California.

The rule of law still exists in Texas and Florida. Instead of defunding the police, Florida is sending police officers bonuses. Texas is increasing police budgets and making laws to stop any city from defunding police.

If you want to keep your local Target and other retailers open for shopping at night, the business and the people visiting it need to feel safe. If a crime happens, police respond. But if there is no help on the way or no punishment for those who do wrong, you can only expect crime to increase. It’s as simple as that.

Even Democrats are starting to see the crime problems resulting from these actions. Now they’re starting to blame Republicans for wanting to defund the police, though there is not a single example of a Republican who has joined the effort.

Instead, it’s people like those among the Squad who want to let people out of prison and defund law enforcement so we can all get along. The only problem is that instead of everyone getting along, it would add to the crime problem of our nation. The solution to the early closing of Target is not to make it progressive, but to make the community around it safe.
