Speaker Mike Johnson to Americans: More Trump Mega-Bills Like the One Big, Beautiful Bill Are on the Way

Republicans traditionally stumble around in shock for a while after they win in an election. This has been true for a long time. They always look like they’re surprised they even won, and they typically have no plan to govern. Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America in 1994 was the last time that a Republican-led Congress was able to hit the ground running.

That’s changed this year. Trump’s plan to govern in 2025 was actually launched in early 2024. And Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) now says there are many big, beautiful, pro-MAGA changes coming the rest of this year.

Johnson sat down with Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo on Sunday to talk about the GOP’s plans for the future. Johnson says that the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) and the rescission packages to codify DOGE cuts into law are just the beginning. President Trump has had party leaders working on the MAGA agenda since April 2024.

That’s hilarious!

It seems like ancient history now but think back to what was happening in April 2024. That’s when a bunch of Republicans were still having their make-believe primary to replace Trump.

Asa Hutchinson, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy were all vying for the nomination, while Trump was meeting with GOP leaders for an action plan to govern the country, cut spending and taxes, impose tariffs, and drain the swamp. House Members who betrayed the MAGA movement like Thomas Massie and Chip Roy were backing DeSantis. Meanwhile, Trump and Johnson were quietly working on a bold 2025 agenda behind the scenes.

They had a plan to govern and they hit the ground running.

Johnson notes that Republicans have “the responsibility of fixing every metric of public policy that Biden and Harris and the Democrats destroyed over the previous four years.”

The next big step after the passage of the OBBB is the first rescission package. The $9.4 billion package already passed the House. If it doesn’t pass in the Senate this week (by July 18), all the fraudulent USAID spending that DOGE exposed earlier this year will automatically go into effect. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has been whipping votes and plans to pass it by the end of Tuesday or sometime Wednesday.

Only a simple majority is required to pass a rescission package, and Democrats cannot filibuster it. The only two possible holdouts are Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME). They’re worried about cuts to AIDS funding for Africa, which is somehow supposed to be your problem that you have to pay for.

This first rescission package won’t be the last. The Trump administration and OMB Director Russ Vought have additional major packages lined up like planes on a runway. Johnson and Thune will likely be able to push every one of them through, saving the taxpayers billions of dollars in government waste and fraud. President Trump has already threatened that any Representative or Senator who votes against the rescission packages will not receive his endorsement in the 2026 midterm elections.

Johnson also says they have plans for two more “mega-bills” like the OBBB in the works. Before anyone gets nervous about additional spending, keep in mind that mainstream economists, naysayers, Never Trumpers, and media dorks lie about everything the Trump administration does. They’re 180 degrees wrong every time.

They claim that the One Big Beautiful Bill is a “massive” spending increase because of things like the $170 billion set aside for ICE. What they fail to acknowledge is the tremendous fiscal harm that illegal immigration does to our country every year. Every deportation saves the taxpayers money along with making the country safer.  A $170 billion increase in ICE funding will save us trillions of dollars down the road.

The “expert” economists all predicted that we’d have a $41 billion deficit in government spending last month. Instead, we posted a $27 billion June surplus for only the second time in history. (The first time was during Trump’s first term in office.)

So, we shouldn’t fret about the idea of these additional mega-bills. Let’s see what’s really in them. The OBBB codified many of Trump’s campaign promises into law, and these new bills will do more of the same. Look for big, beautiful changes through the fall of 2025 and spring of 2026.
