Sometimes Technology is Good

Technology That Can Save You Money

The word technology is often associated with two other words, BIG BUCKS. Big screen TV’s cost thousands of dollars, as do new computers. Tablets and trendy new cell phones will run you in the hundreds of dollars.

But technology doesn’t have to cost us an arm and a leg to enjoy it. We can also use technology to help us save money.

Hindsight is for Losers

They say hindsight is 20/20…

Unfortunately, hindsight is a synonym for “too late.”

The bird in the hand looks awfully good after it’s already left your hand. Think about that the next time you’re tempted to blow something off without analyzing what is being presented.

Today, I believe I have one such opportunity, though it’s something you must act on now… click here for details!

Thanks to modern technology, it takes very little effort to make a big savings impact on your wallet. Anyone with a smartphone or access to the internet can significantly reduce the amount of money they spend daily.

Take for instance Billshrink.com. This website can save you money on your monthly bills. Take five minutes out of your day to input your family’s usage and activity from bills like cell phones, cable, credit cards, etc. Billshrink will take that information and compare it to current offers, offering suggestions to reduce the amount of money you spend in these categories each month. The service is free and can help you save money as well as wade through the vast number of complex offers and plans constantly being offered to you.

One place that gets a lot of my money every month is the grocery store. Some families spend upwards of a thousand dollars each month trying to feed their family. Whenever you go grocery shopping you should do so with the money saving help of coupons. Now I know using coupons at grocery stores has gotten a bad reputation since shows like Extreme Couponing hit the airwaves. Believe me I do not endorse that kind of crazy behavior or do I suggest taking forty hours a week to prepare for a shopping trip.

If there are any items you find yourself regularly buying each shopping trip though using coupons can really help you cut down on your grocery bill. Check out websites like couponmom.com, thekrazycouponlady.com and coupons.com. Review national and local coupons for thousands of items and print out the ones you’re most likely to use.

A really great Android app that will help you save money on groceries is Our Groceries. Family members or roommates can install the app on their smartphones to share the grocery list. Everyone on the list can add items as they become needed or make changes if they’ve run out and purchased it. Never again will you get home from the grocery store only to realize nobody told you they’d used the last of the milk.

Another big expense… Filling up our gas tanks. It’s not uncommon for consumers like you to pay hundreds of dollars in fuel costs every month. Rarely do we have the time or patience to drive all over town in search of the cheapest gas station. Instead of driving all over town to find cheap gas, check out Gasbuddy.com to find the cheapest filling stations in your area. This website relies entirely upon users to post gas prices and identify the cheapest gas stations in your area. Users that post gas prices are entered into a drawing for weekly prizes, including free gas.

I know it’s only September but the holidays will be here before you know it. That means finding gifts for numerous family members, friends and co-workers. Before heading to the mall or a thousand other stores to buy gifts for everyone on your list check out pricegrabber.com. This website compares prices and deals over 25 categories of products. Use the information provided to find the lowest offered price on any item you want. This website will save you money and the headache you get from driving all over town trying to find the best deal for all the items on your shopping list. This website isn’t just for holiday shopping trips either. Use it year round for all your price comparison needs.

If you plan on traveling anytime soon check out kayak.com. Kayak is a price comparison website like pricegrabber.com but for flights, hotels, rental cars, vacation packages…basically anything related to travel. Kayak allows you to compare prices and deals from hundreds of travel sites at once. No longer do you have to visit multiple websites to find the cheapest travel accommodations. You fill out the dates you want to travel and Kayak will pull up the cheapest flights, hotels, and rental cars for you based on your parameters.

The best part is these websites will not only save you money but also time! It’s nice to know that, sometimes, technology can be our friend when it comes to putting more money in our pocket. Use these resources and you will have more money and time to spend doing the things you enjoy most!
