Getting the GOP to do anything about the rogue FBI has been maddeningly difficult. Vivek Ramaswamy—a DC outsider—was the only GOP candidate in the primaries earlier this year who consistently called for the FBI to be defunded and disbanded.
A secret police agency operating as the Democrat Party’s personal Gestapo, and which is completely above the law and unaccountable, is the greatest threat to our nation. Yet the GOP does nothing as its own voters are abused by this criminal agency.
Something must have just changed behind the scenes, however. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has just formally called for massive funding cuts to the FBI.
The House Appropriations Committee is working on its funding bill for FY 2025. Jordan is the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Every year, the committee chairs all send their formal recommendations to the Appropriations Committee on where funding should be added or subtracted from the federal budget.
Last year, despite years of FBI abuses against Republican voters (peaceful January 6ers, pro-life protesters, gun owners, etc.), the GOP recommended building the FBI a new headquarters and gave them a big budget increase. Calling it frustrating doesn’t begin to describe what an outrage this was.
This year, however, Chairman Jordan has completely changed his tune. In his formal recommendation to Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK), Jordan calls for all funding for that new FBI headquarters to be rescinded. He also calls for a prohibition on any new taxpayer dollars being spent on a new FBI building.
Further, Jordan recommends slashing FBI funding to the bone, so that it only has enough money left to carry out its main law enforcement mission. He adds that funding should also be tied directly to specific FBI reforms, such as requiring the FBI to record interviews with all subjects.
For example, when the FBI interviewed Hillary Clinton about her illegal server that she kept stolen classified documents on, the agents didn’t even take notes!
“These croissants are wonderful, Mrs. Clinton! And don’t worry, our boss James Comey says he’ll sweep this whole unpleasantness under the rug!”
So… what changed? Why did Jim Jordan go from being an FBI cheerleader to calling for it to be defunded?
We think it’s because the scales have fallen off a lot of people’s eyes in the past two weeks.
First, we learned that the illegal raid on Mar-a-Lago was an FBI assassination attempt against Donald Trump. The agents were authorized to use deadly force against President Trump, and they believed he was going to be at home at the time of the raid.
This was a paperwork case, and the FBI could have just sent a couple of field agents from Miami to Trump’s house to pick up the documents. Instead, a handpicked team of shooters traveled from Washington, DC to Mar-a-Lago and froze the local FBI bureau out of the operation. This was entirely because they intended to shoot and kill the 45th President of the United States.
You’re kidding yourself if you think that sounds farfetched.
Next, the Biden White House managed to secure a conviction on 34 fake felony counts in New York. There’s a very real likelihood that the judge will sentence President Trump to prison time over this case, which is another silly paperwork case.
It was bad enough that this case ever made it to trial, but it shocked the world last week when Trump was convicted. If that had happened in another country, the US government would have sanctioned them.
Interestingly, Jordan’s budget request also calls to defund any state prosecutor’s office that engages in political “lawfare” against the Democrat Party’s opponents. That is squarely aimed at Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.
One of the best outcomes from last week’s conviction of Trump might be that the GOP is finally waking up to the danger that the FBI poses to America. The solution is not to reward the FBI with a new headquarters. The proper solution would be to drop the FBI headquarters in the middle of the ocean with every agent inside it.
