Pro-Life Org Bashes Most Pro-Life President in American History

You just can’t make some people happy. A supposedly pro-life organization is now bashing President Donald J. Trump for not being pro-life enough to suit them.

This is a pro-life group that was founded in 2003, and which endorsed George W. Bush every year during his presidency, even as Bush increased the number of taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.

And now this “pro-life” group is telling us that Donald J. Trump—the guy who got Roe v. Wade overturned—is disqualified?

President Trump recently spoke about how the issue of abortion is now a state’s issue, following the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade last year. The goal of the pro-life movement has always been to overturn Roe v. Wade, so that the voters of every state can decide the issue for themselves. Top-down federal control of this issue resulted in conservative red states being forced to tolerate taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood clinics within their borders.

Donald Trump won that issue decisively. Other Republican presidents and governors have mumbled platitudes for a long time about “fostering a culture of life” (whatever the hell that means). Trump got it done.

He campaigned on appointing federalist, pro-life Supreme Court Justices, and he did it. We now have three additional pro-lifers on the court, and Roe v. Wade has been consigned to the dustbin of history. Promises made, promises delivered and all that.

Lila Rose is the president and founder of the Live Action pro-life network. Here’s what she tweeted this week, after President Trump remarked about delivering the MAIN GOAL of the pro-life movement after 45 years:

“Donald Trump has DISQUALIFIED himself from the nomination of our nation’s pro-life political party by calling the human right to life merely a ‘state-level issue.’ Every human person is guaranteed due process and equal protection. The next Republican president must be willing to take bold action to protect women and children.”

Oh please. Talk to the hand, woman.

Annual abortions increased under Ronald Reagan, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. Every single one of them signed budgets that included funding to increase the number of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics across the country.

No Republican governor in the United States who held himself or herself up as “pro-life” ever rejected those Planned Parenthood funds, as they have authority to do. All they had to do was say, “No thanks, we don’t want any federal funds to slap up more abortion clinics in the poor neighborhoods.”

We pro-lifers expected our governors and presidents to do things like that. But when it came down to it, they were all afraid. They were too afraid that the New York Times would say something mean about them. Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush wouldn’t show themselves in public at the March for Life, because they didn’t want their pictures taken with any of the pro-lifers who they were secretly embarrassed about.

President Donald Trump invited pro-life groups to the Rose Garden at the White House during the March for Life and addressed the marchers both in person and on a live video feed for those who couldn’t be there. He didn’t phone it in, and he was not afraid.

President Trump said, “I ask every citizen of this great Nation to listen to the sound of silence caused by a generation lost to us, and then to raise their voices for all affected by abortion, both seen and unseen.”

That’s the man they want to disqualify? The same person who delivered the main goal of a movement that spent 45 years trying to find a leader who would govern the way we asked, and who would keep his promises?

If these pro-life orgs want to do something useful now, head to California or Connecticut or Delaware or Rhode Island or Washington or any of the other states where abortion is still legal and start changing hearts and minds.

What this Lila Rose attack on President Trump sounds like is her organization’s fundraising has probably dipped since he won the battle for them. Now they need something to get people fired up about, so they’ll keep giving money to organizations that are becoming more irrelevant. Take the win, guys.
