Well, well, well, it looks like the Biden-era bureaucrats in Los Angeles just got a constitutional wake-up call, courtesy of the Department of Justice under the Trump administration. And let me just say, it’s about time. For years, law-abiding citizens in LA County have been jumping through hoops, crawling through red tape, shelling out wads of cash, and waiting longer than a George R.R. Martin book release just to get a concealed carry permit. All while crime skyrockets and the so-called leaders of the city assure everyone that everything is just fine. Spoiler alert: it’s not.
AG Pam Bondi has officially filed suit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for what they’re calling a “pattern or practice” of delaying gun permits. Not denying, not even rejecting for cause. Just sitting on them like a lazy DMV clerk on a donut break. Out of 8,000 applications, only two were approved over a two-year period. That’s not incompetence, that’s obstruction with a side of contempt for the Constitution.
While criminals in LA are getting bolder, more violent, and increasingly well-armed, regular citizens are being told to sit tight and wait their turn. Some applicants waited up to two years just to get an interview. That’s not due process, that’s due nonsense. And let’s be honest, if this were any other constitutional right, the media would be in full meltdown mode. Imagine if it took you three years to get a permit to speak freely, or to attend church, or to vote. The ACLU would have a parade.
But when it comes to the Second Amendment, Democrats treat it like the awkward cousin at Thanksgiving dinner. They know he’s there, they just hope nobody brings him up.
LA Mayor Karen Bass—yes, the same one presiding over a city where smash-and-grabs are a daily pastime—had the gall to say the city is heading toward its lowest homicide total in 60 years. That’s cute. Meanwhile, residents are being mugged at gunpoint, stores are locking up deodorant behind bulletproof glass, and grandmothers are being carjacked in broad daylight. But sure, let’s keep patting ourselves on the back for cherry-picked crime stats.
Pam Bondi, our fearless Attorney General, isn’t buying the excuses. She made it crystal clear: the Constitution doesn’t come with a zip code exemption. LA County doesn’t get to just ignore the Second Amendment because they’ve convinced themselves that citizens aren’t smart enough to protect themselves. Newsflash: the criminals aren’t waiting on permits. Only the law-abiding are.
Even Assistant AG Harmeet Dhillon chimed in with a mic drop. She called out the absurdity of the delays and pointed out that even places like San Francisco and DC—hardly bastions of gun freedom—manage to issue permits in a matter of days. But in Los Angeles? You’re more likely to get a callback from Bigfoot than from the CCW office.
Let’s be clear about what’s happening here. This isn’t about “public safety.” This is about Democrat-run cities trying to legislate the Constitution out of existence by passive-aggressively refusing to enforce it. It’s ideological sabotage. They know they can’t flat-out ban guns, so they throw up procedural roadblocks, hoping people give up. And when people give up, they become sitting ducks.
Thankfully, the Trump DOJ isn’t letting this slide. They’re stepping in where local officials have failed miserably. Because in America, a right is a right. It’s not a privilege. It’s not “may we please.” It’s “shall not be infringed.” And if LA bureaucrats can’t figure that out, maybe it’s time someone reminded them—preferably in court.
So while the left continues to talk about gun control like it’s a virtue, the rest of us will be celebrating actual constitutional control. Score one for freedom, zero for the anti-gun clown show in LA.
