DOJ Lawyers Are Losing Their Minds Over Trump’s Imminent Return

Stressed out woman who can be either a student, business woman, or a mother

President-Elect Donald J. Trump has at least two years to put the pedal to the metal and ram his agenda through. He’s already making a flurry of nominations so that the new administration can hit the ground running when he gets in office January 20th.

As for “permanent Washington,” they’re like kids who are worried because dad is coming home soon and they haven’t kept the house clean or mowed the lawn. Somebody’s going to get grounded.

No one is more worried about President Trump’s return than the lawyers at the Department of Justice—and they deserve to be worried!

The attorneys at the DOJ are the ones who have been engaged in years of Lawfare against the Trump family. Here’s how Politico described the mood inside the DOJ this week:

“A collective sense of dread has taken hold at the Department of Justice, which drew Donald Trump’s rage like no other part of the federal government during his campaign.”

The “during his campaign” part of that sentence is funny. Trump’s beef with the DOJ goes back a lot further than his recent two-year campaign. They tried to put Don, Jr. in prison back in 2016 for having a meeting with some woman who was trying to set him up for the Russia collusion hoax.

We also know for a fact that former FBI Director James Comey set up an off-the-books spying operation way back in 2015 against Trump, which was authorized by Obama’s Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

No other president has ever been subjected to as much garbage by the DOJ as Donald Trump. Whenever a Democrat is in the White House, they use the DOJ and its law enforcement underlings in the FBI as their personal Gestapo. The reason why they’re so worried now is because they know that Trump is going to turn the tables on them.

One DOJ lawyer told Politico, “Everyone I’ve talked to, mostly lawyers, are losing their minds. The fear is that career leadership and career employees everywhere are either going to leave or they’re going to be driven out.”

Do you mean purged? Like the way that consecutive FBI Directors like James Comey and Christopher Wray purged employees from the FBI for being Trump supporters?

The FBI leadership went out of its way to make life miserable for agents when they discovered they were Trump supporters or voters and drove them out of the bureau. If you’re going to destroy your credibility as a law enforcement agency (not that the FBI ever had much credibility) for partisan reasons, you can’t get upset when the other side finally starts playing by your rules.

Trump will have a challenge staffing the DOJ this time around. Nearly every Trump appointee at the DOJ fought him back in 2020 when the president was trying to Stop the Steal. Most of the 115,000 employees at the DOJ today were around when that happened.

“Many federal employees are terrified that we’ll be replaced with partisan loyalists,” said one attorney in the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division.

These people don’t believe that they are partisan loyalists. Only people who support Trump can be partisan loyalists, you see.

The Department of Justice as it is outfitted today is designed to engage in Lawfare to protect Permanent Washington from interlopers. By interlopers, we mean any outsider who is perceived as a threat—they can be conservatives or liberals.

Think of the way that Barack Obama weaponized the federal government against the Tea Party. Both the DOJ and its friends in the IRS targeted Tea Party groups. Democrats weren’t the ones who were concerned about the Tea Party. It was the career Republicans who wanted the status quo to remain unchanged. People like Mitt Romney and Mitch McConnell loved it when the DOJ went after the Tea Partiers.

We still don’t know who President Trump will appoint to serve as his Attorney General. It’s going to be one of his most important appointments, though. A few names come to mind that are likely on his short list, such as Ric Grenell or Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Whoever Trump chooses will likely be another interloper like himself. We should all be happy that the DOJ lawyers are so worried about Donald Trump’s return. It’s their own fault that they put themselves in this position through eight years of Lawfare against the most popular president in our lifetimes.
