Did Trump Just Botch Two More Cabinet Picks?

NEW YORK, USA - Sep 21, 2017: Meeting of the President of the United States Donald Trump with the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in New York

President-Elect Donald Trump announced another slough of cabinet picks last week and two of them are genuinely upsetting for conservatives. The Pam Bondi choice for Attorney General was bad enough, but at least there’s an outside chance that she’ll surprise us (doubtful, but you never know).

Trump’s picks for Surgeon General and Labor Secretary, though—oof! These are just outright bad picks that conservatives have every reason to be disgusted about.

Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR) is Trump’s choice to lead the Labor Department. She’s a RINO from Oregon and one of the only Republicans in the country who is dumb and vicious enough to support Big Labor’s PRO Act.

The PRO Act, for those who don’t know, was inspired by California’s AB5. The taxicab unions were horribly upset that rideshare services like Uber and Lyft were offering cheaper and better services than taxicabs. There’s no labor union that controls Uber or Lyft. Most people don’t realize it, but in many major cities, you have to pay a “fee” of over $100,000 to the taxicab unions just to get a license to drive a cab.

That’s big money to the unions and they hate Uber and Lyft as a result. AB5 was the solution to this. The Democrat-controlled California legislature passed AB5 a few years ago, which banned all freelancing positions in the state. The idiots in the legislature didn’t realize (or maybe they did, which is even worse) that about 10% of the population in the United States now relies on freelancing income to support their families.

AB5 put most freelancers out of business in California, other than those who were able to still make money from out-of-state employers. This included everyone from small theater troupe actors to court transcriptionists to independent truck drivers. It was insane. AB5 put so many people out of work that the legislature was forced to rescind it months later because of the grassroots uprising against it.

The PRO Act would be the federal version of AB5. It would put somewhere between 30 and 35 million Americans out of work overnight. And because they are freelance workers, they can’t collect unemployment while they’re searching around for their next job.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer is one of the Republican Party’s biggest cheerleaders for AB5. While there is no chance of the PRO Act becoming law while the GOP controls the House and Senate, you have to wonder what President Trump was thinking by nominating this woman. She’s flat-out awful and has no redeeming qualities.

We were also horrified when Trump nominated Dr. Janette Nesheiwat to be America’s next Surgeon General. This is a massive head-scratcher, especially considering that Trump has nominated Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to be the HHS Secretary to clean up public health in this country.

Dr. Nesheiwat was one of the Fox News medical analysts who found that the CDC could do no wrong during the COVID pandemic. No matter what anti-science, anti-freedom dictates the CDC came up with, Dr. Nesheiwat was there waving her pom-poms and cheering them on for their brilliance.

When the CDC said that everyone should put masks on kids, Dr. Nesheiwat thought that was a GREAT idea! Let’s stunt their emotional and educational development by covering up everyone’s mouths to protect them from a virus that doesn’t really impact children. Ooh, and let’s tape little shame circles on the ground and force everyone to stand in them because that will stop a respiratory virus. Dr. Nesheiwat loved that idea as well.

She also thought the deadly mRNA COVID shots were the best thing to ever be invented and supported everyone over the age of 6 months getting jabbed and boosted as many times as possible. In fairness, Dr. Nesheiwat has since come around and admitted that “mistakes were made” regarding the vaccines.

That’s not why we think she should be permanently banned from serving in any public office, however. This is why she should be banned from serving in public office:

I’m sorry, but your little virus does not supersede my First Amendment right to say whatever I want and to read whatever I want on social media or elsewhere. That’s disqualifying.

Oh, and what about the big measles outbreak that she was worried about in that clip? Do you know what that 2021 measles outbreak was caused by? We had 47 cases of measles, which the CDC classified as an “outbreak.”

All 47 cases were carried into the United States by Afghan refugees after Joe Biden honked up the Afghanistan withdrawal. It would have been completely avoidable without shilling the measles vaccine if the Biden regime had not thrown our borders wide open.

Dr. Nesheiwat is a terrible choice for the Surgeon General.
