And just like that, the Resistance has gone full Benedict Arnold. In a video that feels more like a campaign ad for the Deep State than a message for national unity, a gaggle of Democrat lawmakers — all former members of the military or intelligence community — decided now would be a great time to publicly urge current service members and intel officers to stand up to President Trump and Secretary Hegseth. Not “stand with the Constitution,” which is the fig leaf they’re using, but “stand up” — which, in political newspeak, really means “disobey.”
This isn’t a movie. This isn’t “The Hunt for Red October.” This is a group of elected officials telling the men and women who serve under the Commander-in-Chief that if they will defy their commander-in-chief’s orders they will protect them.
Hello, sedition? Is that you?
Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, who now moonlights as a TikTok influencer for the Resistance, shared the treasonous video she made with her fellow Democrat lawmakers. In the video she pleaded with members of the military and intel community, warning that they are under “enormous stress and pressure.”
Gee, wonder why that might be? Maybe because Democrats keep dragging them into their political theater like they’re casting the next Avengers reboot.
Joining Slotkin were fellow Democrat senators and reps, including Mark “I used to be an astronaut, now I’m a DNC talking point” Kelly, Chrissy “Trust us, we’re the good guys” Houlahan, and Jason “Don’t forget I served too” Crow. Together, they recited a script that sounded like it was written by a committee of MSNBC interns and approved by Jake Sullivan’s group chat.
“Our laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders,” they repeated like a courtroom drama monologue. Oh sure, thanks for the reminder, but who decides what’s illegal? Some bureaucrat at Langley who watched too much Maddow? Or maybe Slotkin herself, who seems to think her CIA badge grants her divine constitutional authority.

Let’s be clear: Article II of the Constitution gives the President, duly elected by the American people, the role of Commander-in-Chief. That’s not a suggestion, it’s the law. The military doesn’t get to play choose-your-own-adventure based on whatever Democrats are ranting about this week. The idea that six elected Democrats are now trying to gaslight active-duty personnel into thinking they’re the last line of defense against their own government is not just reckless — it’s treasonous.
This isn’t some abstract debate. This is a direct attempt to undermine civil-military relations and the constitutional chain of command. Imagine the meltdown if six Republican lawmakers had done this while Biden was in office. MSNBC would have declared martial law by breakfast.

And let’s not forget the irony. These are the same Democrats who spent four years under Trump 1.0 screeching about “democracy dying in darkness” and how sacred “norms” were being destroyed every time Trump sent a tweet. Now that they’re out of power, they’re calling on unelected intelligence agents and military brass to defy the President. Because nothing says “defend democracy” like encouraging a soft coup.
To top it all off, they ended the video with the historic phrase “Don’t give up the ship,” which originated from a dying Navy officer in the War of 1812. Somewhere, Captain James Lawrence is rolling in his grave, wondering how his final words got hijacked by a bunch of political opportunists trying to stir up mutiny from the comfort of their Capitol Hill offices.
Let’s call this what it is: an open call for insubordination. It’s the latest episode in the never-ending Democrat soap opera titled “We Lost, So Let’s Blow Up the System.” The only stress our military and intelligence community should be feeling is from foreign adversaries — not from the sabotage coming from within our own Congress.
If these Democrats really cared about the Constitution, they’d start by reading it. Because the only “illegal orders” around here are the ones telling troops to ignore their Commander-in-Chief.
