The Daily Mail reports that Democrat insiders do in fact have a plan to replace Joe Biden on the ticket. However, it’s not a very good plan, so maybe Democrat voters shouldn’t get their hopes up.
Reportedly, a lot of it will depend on Biden’s performance in the debate next week, on June 27th. If he does fine, then the party may back down from replacing him.
However, 41% of Americans say they expect Biden to wander off the stage during the debate, and 49% think he’ll forget where he is during the 90-minute spectacle. Also, this plan to replace him isn’t a very good one.
Assuming that Biden’s performance is an absolute train wreck, insiders tell the Daily Mail that the plan would then be to have the other four party elders approach Biden and ask him to step down. That would be Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer. They’ll tell him it’s time to step down “for the good of the party.”
That’s really not a good plan.
Biden is still technically the leader of their party, even if most of his days are spent watching Matlock reruns in the basement while waiting for his Ovaltine. It’s going to be his decision on whether to step down since the chair is his to keep or give up.
They’ve also got to get past Jill Biden, who obviously sees nothing wrong with publicly humiliating her frail husband. She loves having the staffers at The New Yorker refer to her as “Madam First Lady.” She’s unlikely to want to leave the cushy life that she’s enjoying right now.
Plus, we’ve just had nearly two years of hearings into the Biden crime family’s international bribery schemes. If Joe steps aside and the replacement candidate (Gavin Newsom) gets defeated by President Trump, guess what happens next?
There won’t be any more toothless congressional hearings that don’t go anywhere. The Biden family will be facing a full-blown criminal investigation from the Justice Department. They’re not going to be charged with fake paperwork charges based on “novel” legal theories that will be overturned on appeal. They’ll be going to jail, their mansions that they can’t afford on Joe and Jill’s salaries will be seized, and they’ll lose everything.
That’s a tremendous amount of risk to undertake while trusting your future to Gavin Newsom, of all people. Jill Biden will realize that it’s better to stay in the White House, and in charge of the Justice Department, than to step aside. That’s a pretty hard sell.
There’s also the problem of Kamala Harris. She’s so badly disliked that they won’t be able to keep her on the ticket if they talk Joe into stepping down. They’ll offer to back her in the special election for governor in California, to replace Newsom, but would you take that deal if you were her?
There’s no guarantee that Harris would be able to win a statewide race for governor. They’ll be asking her to give up everything that she has “worked” so hard to attain in the political world on an uncertain risk. Kamala is a dolt, but she’s smart enough to realize that she will never be closer to the big chair in the Oval Office than she is right now.
In fact, if Biden-Harris were somehow able to win in November, it’s a guarantee that Kamala Harris would be the next (unelected) President of the United States. (*shudder!*)
There’s no upside for the Biden family or for Kamala Harris to step aside for someone else. There are a ton of risks and downsides for them, however. It could mean jail time for some members of the Biden family who aren’t too old to prosecute, and the end of Kamala Harris’s political career.
Would you risk all that based on promises from Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer?
Plus, there’s a political risk for Gavin Newsom if he steps into the race this late. If he loses, all the blame for that loss will fall squarely on his shoulders.
It’s definitely a pickle. We’ll have to wait and see what happens at the debate in a few days. Problems like this couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of people!
