Senate Republicans folded like a cowardly paper tiger two weeks ago and passed the fake Joe Biden infrastructure bill that contains no actual infrastructure projects in it. Biden immediately signed it into law. Now that the law has been passed, people are starting to read it and discover the horror show contained inside.

Nothing in the bill will result in the potholes getting fixed on your street, but it does grant Big Brother incredible new powers to control your life. A “safety” provision buried deep within the bill makes it mandatory that all newly manufactured cars must contain a new, intrusive spy-on-the-driver surveillance system – and a kill switch that can be activated by the government if Big Brother thinks you’re being naughty.

The Biden regime is giving the auto industry just five years to implement this new system. Starting in 2026, all new manufactured vehicles will have to be fitted with a new surveillance system that will “passively monitor the performance of a driver of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired.”

This system will also have access to every vehicle’s operational controls, so that it can be shut down if it’s determined that the driver is impaired (or the government simply wants to stop you for some reason). If the vehicle is in motion, the system will have to pull the car over to the side of the road in order to stop it safely. That means auto engineers are going to have just five years to solve the self-driving car issues that Elon Musk still hasn’t solved at Tesla. That self-driving feature works great for the driver, but it tends to run over an awful lot of pedestrians.

Even the best current collision-avoidance systems in luxury vehicles are iffy at this point in time. Those systems require a motion-detecting camera system pointing in 360-degrees around the vehicle.

What’s it going to cost drivers to pay for this new “safety” feature? Given the capabilities of it and based on similar safety packages on existing luxury vehicles, my best guess is that it will add somewhere between $10,000 and $30,000 to the sticker price of every vehicle sold, starting in 2026. (That’s assuming that the engineers at the auto companies can even pull off this science-fiction pipe dream.)

Of greater concern is the intrusiveness of the system. In order for the vehicle to be able to safely pull over to the side of the road, it needs to know what road you are on, at all times. That means every vehicle will be installed with a precise GPS system, so the government can track your whereabouts at all times. It will mean the end of the privacy, freedom and autonomy that owning a car has meant in America since the horse and buggy went out of fashion. If the system is “passively” monitoring you as the law requires, that means it’s always on – and always knows where you are.

And here’s another reason to worry about this new “safety” system. It has to be designed, naturally, so that law enforcement can remotely shut the car off while you’re driving. You can see certain applications where this would be useful, such as when the cops are chasing a bank robber. Other applications, like pulling you over so that they can forcibly inject you with your eleventy-fourth COVID booster, don’t seem like so much fun. The point is that a system like this that is connected to the internet – is “open.”

Your home WiFi is a “closed” system. No one can get on it without your password. But an “open” system? Anyone with moderate technical skills can access that. Facebook, Google, Twitter and other creepy Big Tech companies that are already mining every aspect of our lives for data would love for this system to be put in place.

Oh, and mark my words: Hackers will absolutely be able to shut your car off remotely right when you’re on the freeway trying to get to work, because nothing “new” that the government builds is ever any good. (See the billion-dollar Obamacare website.)

The sad thing is that this was passed into law and not a single Member of Congress noticed it. The infrastructure bill was too big for anyone to read before it was voted on. Hopefully the auto companies and privacy will sue to prevent it from being implemented, because this is a huge step backwards for American freedom and autonomy. You will no longer effectively own or control your car if this law goes into effect. Yuck! It’s like turning every car into an iPhone.
